With the government announcing that all social clubs should stop running in late March in order to slow the spread of COVID-19, Coventry Boys & Girls Club were forced to close their doors indefinitely to hundreds of young people in the area that use the popular sessions as a safe space and fun way to stay off the streets.
But, whilst CBGC and its members have been unable to meet in the usual way, a team of staff and volunteers have worked day and night to continue their work, providing fun activities for kids and young adults.
On Facebook and Twitter, the hashtag #CBGCthingstodo provides daily updates for kids and carers searching for fun things to do; from drawing Mickey Mouse to making slime.
Exciting online sessions have offered great content such as Quiz’s and Fitness Classes. A media workshop was also launched on social media, providing scripting and short film challenges.
For parents, carers and young people wishing to find out more, CBGC is open to all. Find us at covboyandgirlsblub on Facebook and @covboysandgirls on Twitter.
