CBGC Completes an Exciting Summer with EMPOWR-U

Coventry Boys and Girls Club teamed up with EMPOWR-U to deliver an exciting calendar of summer events. Trips included Cadbury’s World and Jump In Trampoline Park. We also teamed up to provide provisions such as ‘Fit & Fed’ and ‘Sports & Snax’ to provide a range of summer options.

Planning Permission Granted for New Venue

Our new venue on Whitefriars is granted planning permission. Plans are made to move out of the old center at the end of 2018, and move to the new building in January 2019.

Jeff Adams Donates £1000 to CBGC
Jeff Adams turned back the clock when he popped his 20p into the box for a night at the club, just like old times. He then donated £1000 to CBGC. Mr Adams, the regional director of Wimpey, has been a great fund raiser for the club over the years.

Tributes pour in for Les Matthews, who was tragically killed whilst climbing in Mount Blanc, France, on 17th September 1984. Les Matthews is affectionately remembered by CBGC for all his tireless services, fundraising, and friendship.

A new and dynamic image was revealed by the club during an open day in March, 1984 – showcasing a wide range of activities including gymnastics, boxing, judo and trampoline. Even back in 1984, the CBGC focus was very much on mental and physical well-being for our young members.

Double National Champion, Mick Smith (pictured) and heavy-hitting Lee Ferrie burst into the limelight this season. Smith stormed the NABC and Schools ABA Crowns whilst Lee Ferrie rocketed to prominence by demolishing the vastly more experienced Ray Goulding.
