CBGC Completes an Exciting Summer with EMPOWR-U
Coventry Boys and Girls Club teamed up with EMPOWR-U to deliver an exciting calendar of summer events. Trips included Cadbury’s World and Jump In Trampoline Park. We also teamed up to provide provisions such as ‘Fit & Fed’ and ‘Sports & Snax’ to provide a range of summer options.
2017
Planning Permission Granted for New Venue
Our new venue on Whitefriars is granted planning permission. Plans are made to move out of the old center at the end of 2018, and move to the new building in January 2019.

CBGC Appoints EMPOWR-U
EMPOWR-U are appointed as the official delivery partner of Coventry Boys & Girls Club, enabling us to provide more sessions and content for young people.

We Become Coventry Boys & Girls Club
Our old name (Coventry Boys Club) is refreshed, appropriately, to Coventry Boys & Girls Club
1990
Club Re-Opens After Fire
Coventry Boys & Girls Club rises up from the ashes following an arson attack. Coventry City Player-Manager Terry Butcher celebrates with members.
1989
Jeff Adams Donates £1000 to CBGC
Jeff Adams turned back the clock when he popped his 20p into the box for a night at the club, just like old times. He then donated £1000 to CBGC. Mr Adams, the regional director of Wimpey, has been a great fund raiser for the club over the years.
1984
Leslie Matthews 1959-1984
Tributes pour in for Les Matthews, who was tragically killed whilst climbing in Mount Blanc, France, on 17th September 1984. Les Matthews is affectionately remembered by CBGC for all his tireless services, fundraising, and friendship.
CBGC Launches New Image for 1984
A new and dynamic image was revealed by the club during an open day in March, 1984 – showcasing a wide range of activities including gymnastics, boxing, judo and trampoline. Even back in 1984, the CBGC focus was very much on mental and physical well-being for our young members.

CBGC Boxers Grab Limelight
Double National Champion, Mick Smith (pictured) and heavy-hitting Lee Ferrie burst into the limelight this season. Smith stormed the NABC and Schools ABA Crowns whilst Lee Ferrie rocketed to prominence by demolishing the vastly more experienced Ray Goulding.

CBGC Gymnastics Club Success
CBGC Gymnastics Club members are selected to represent the West Midlands in the National Gymnastics Finals

Work to Replace Roof Begins
Whilst still raising money towards costs, construction begins on a new roof at CBGC.
4 Day Basketball Camp
Slam-dunking young basketball players from CBGC take part in a 4 Day Coaching Camp.
Money is Raised for New Roof
Coventry Boys & Girls Club, together with Warwickshire Association of Boys Clubs, and with the support of Mr. Stan Lenton, undertake to replace the new Sports Hall roof – estimated to cost £20,000
